I have purchased a Garmin 265WT couple of days ago. Just checked with Amazon and found out that there’s on sale. The price is $30 cheaper than couple of days ago. I have called to Amazon and asked for the price adjustment. The representative told me that there’s no price adjusment available in Amazon. The only way to get $30 back is to return my received unit and place the order again to get the current cheaper price for the same unit. It’s a painful exercise…

I’ve used a friend’s older Garmin 350, and bought this thinking it would be better.

I’ve discovered one significant flaw in the way the unit guides you in one fairly common circumstance.

Some freeway exits are paired, for example Exit 52A and Exit 52B, with one exit going south and the other going north. Often these exits leave the main freeway as one branch, which then after a short distance splits into A and B. For this type of exit, the Garmin announcements are given too late to safely guide you to the proper lane.

Before you come to the exit, the Garmin will announce an upcoming turn to “Exit 52AB.” Then after you get off at the combined AB exit, when it is too late to change lanes, it will finally tell you which side you want: “Stay left for Exit 52A.”

If you look at the step-by-step directions on-screen instead of the map, it isn’t a problem, because you can see a few turns ahead. But I much prefer the moving map mode.

I was going to get a couple more of these for my kids, but after discovering this flaw I’m going to look at other units.

One other, much smaller irritation. Not only does it NOT come with a manual, but when you go to the Garmin site to download a “current” manual, it covers multiple products, and is designed to print on 4.75″ square paper. Don’t know about you, but my printer doesn’t use 4.75″ paper.

Nothing like buying a new $300 product and having to print your own 60 page manual! Thanks a lot, Garmin! Good job saving 15 cents!

(Yes, that’s right, I’m a crotchety old dude.)

I never received the two items I paid for. The purchase date was January 6th, and the estimated delivery date was around January 15th, and it’s now February 6th. The post office tells me it looks like the shipper printed a label, but never delivered the items to the post office for delivery.

    HELP!!!!!

I am really rating Amazon, not the GPS. I was just ready to purchase this. Going to the web page today I had to click to see the price. Funny the price is now $3. more than it was 24 hours ago. Amazon’s notation says when the price goes down to a certain level, the retailers ask that we click to see the price. I would suspect that it might be wise to click on a price now if the price went DOWN, but UP??? Give me a break guys, we’re not stupid!!!

I bought this for my boyfried for Christmas so he hasn’t used it yet but I can say that I was told it would take approx. 5 days to arrive and I got it in 2! He specifically requested this model after doing some research so I have no doubt it will live up to expectations.
