You would think that a low cost printer would allow refills of the ink, but no.
I just priced the four new 100A refillable cartridges from Lexmark… $60 total.
I swear they did it on purpose. To make sure we bought at least one
new set of cartridges from them.

a great,easy to set-up printer at the cheapest price going!!!! everything I have done has been great, except I havent yet printed a picture yet. GET IT!!!!!! oh and its wireless too. best feature of all.

Good printer with fast print speeds and good quality ducuments and photos. The 4 ink system was suppose to save money on ink. Not so far. I use as much if not more than my other Lexmark for about the same amount of money. Print heads dry up fast.

Needed a printer that was small enough for a somewhat crowded pre-teen’s room. Needed a printer that was of good quality, durable, easy to use and produced clear, crisp copies. Read other reviews and decided this was the one for us (or for my grandaughter). She is very happy with it. We have given ample time for her to use it and determine if it is as good as we believed it would be. Lexmark makes good products and this is definitely one of them. When I (the grandmom) am ready to get another printer, I WILL choose this make and if it is still available, this model.

The S305 seems to be, according to the specs, a good product and excellent value. However, the quality is questionable and Lexmark customer service was a disappointment. When I started hooking everything up, I had to abort the software installation midway through because the paper guides were misaligned and would not allow a test page to feed. This interruption in the install may have caused problems later on, I don’t know. I took apart and re-assembled the paper guide assembly and reinstalled the software. However, after each scan, the scanner would hang up and give an error message. I contacted customer service, who advised to load an update which fixed the problem. Then I noticed that after printing about ten or so pages, the black ink was half empty. It was using ink at a rate of about 10 times faster than it should have. I didn’t see any puddles and still don’t know where it went. Customer service was not familiar with this problem. They requested that I do a lot of test pages, sending them the results. Nothing they suggested helped, but the ink was getting used up at a phenomenal rate. They ignored my request for a free set of ink cartridges. By this time all four cartridges were empty. I bought a new set for about $40. The ink usage rate stayed bad; it had gone through two sets of ink to print about 80 pages. I returned the printer to Buy.com for replacement with another S305. I haven’t gotten the replacement yet. I would like this printer if it just worked as advertised. I’m hoping I simply got a lemon the first time, and the replacement works as it’s supposed to.
