When to considering buying a blu-ray. Question is what type of tv do you own lcd or plasma? I bought this player for my plasma tv samsung. Reason i bought a lg bd370 the blu ray player kept blacking out on start up and loading the movie on my tv. But when hooked up to lcd the bd370 is great. also a nice feature is on the pioneer that the lg does not have is the stop button lets you resume the movie the lg you have to book mark or pause or you have to start all over. i would recomend the pioneer bdp-320 for plasma it has better response. i bought this player at amazon bdp 320 the response time is not slow at all on plasma have not hooked it up to lcd. actually i had seen the bdp320 at a local dealer and it was slow but the one i ordered from amazon totaly impressed me even before i did the upgrade fast.one more post about the lg bd370 is the home menu has highlighted boxes which burns in a little on plasma the pioneer bdp320 has moving emblem the lg home menu is still. so if plasma i would recomend this one if lcd the lg bd370 works great. one more thing i forgot is the loading tray on the pioneer bdp 320 is deep not like the lg no worries about getting the disc caught when closing the tray this feauture is great. The same problem happened to me on the lg bd 370 if not in the slot correctly the disc gets caught and when you have blu-ray disc the last thing you want is scatched disk!

It is a very nice player. Picture quality is good, sound quality is good. It is a bit slow, but Blu Ray disks are not really fast either. It plays only store fabricated disks. We have extensive collection of DVD-+R (in DVD format). It plays only a very limited percentage of these. Pioneer BDP-320 does not play any DivX, mpg, avi, mkv or other type of disks. Too bad. Our good olde Philips DVR plays it all (except mkv) and upconverts as well. Unfortunately, Philips does not play Blu Ray.
Can not be unlocked easily – plays only region 1 and region A disks (DVD and Blu Ray respectively). Can not play PAL disks on our LCD TV (it is NTSC only). Again the old Philips plays any region DVD and will play either PAL or NTSC on our TV.
Bottom line: will be going back to the vendor. For this price, we will get a new Philips BDP5010 and several Blu Ray collections (such as BBC Nature or NatGeo). Apparently BDP5010 can be unlocked easily – will update as available. However, if you want a good solid unit, region 1 or A only and no home made DVDs, this unit is for you.

This is an excellent Player, I have a PS3 and I did have the sony BDP-350 but the sound quality was terrible. The Pioneer BDP-320 is an excellent player picture quality is incredible and the sound is out of this world. I recommend it, there are people saying that it’s slow but I don’t see that. I think this is a worthwhile purchase.

I’m not sure if maybe I’m doing something wrong, or there is just something wrong with my BDP-320, but my unit will NOT play DVDs, PERIOD. I have a 60 inch Pioneer ELITE (KURO) and this BDP-320. The Blu-Ray play is BEAUTIFUL, but I am highly upset that I cannot play DVDs with this unit, because (and I know I’m not the only one) I have FAR MORE DVDs than I do BLU-RAY discs – and that will ALWAYS be the case. I might as well have just bought the base model SONY BLU-RAY, which I know works amazing. I just figured PIONEER BLU-RAY with my PIONEER TV. I’m usually one who thinks matching brands is a SMART CHOICE. OOPSIE, this time! I will be monitoring responses, so PLEASE comment with suggestions.
