Samsung has issues with their LCD tv’s where the capacitor is not sufficient and leaks. This causes the tv not to turn on. I have had mine for 1 1/2 years and all was great until it just did not turn on yesterday.

After searching I came across HUNDREDS of complaints for samsung. See this article: [..]

Unfortunately, warranty is only 1 year so the tv is useless and will cost hundreds to get fixed.

    Don’t buy!!!!

I bought 2 of this TV as of writing this review. With the first one, the power cable was very loose where it connected to the TV. Yes it was firmly pushed in. It still had lots of play (wiggle) in it. While auto programming the TV I began to hear electrical popping sounds. The TV cut off once it hit 81% completion. I plugged it into a surge protector as I do all of my electronics. I checked the power cable connection at the TV and after barely touching it, the TV cut back on. While touching the power cable the TV cut on and off several times and I continued to hear electrical popping sounds. That night I left it unplugged as I did not want to start a possible FIRE. Needless to say I returned this TV the day after I bought it.

TV #2: The power cable is still a little looser than any previous TV I have connected. I’ve hooked up hundreds of TVs since I am in the electronics business. At least this TV is not making the dangerous popping sounds. I will keep on eye out for a possible RECALL on it just to be on the safe side. Samsung definitely dropped the ball on this model.

I have not had the problems listed in the other reviews. It has worked great! I just bought it for a occasional tv use though.

    UPDATE:

When I first bought this TV it turned off and on constantly – after swapping out the smart power strip to which it was attached, the problem stopped. In its new state, this TV is really awesome – looks good, sounds good. My girlfriend, who can see colors better than me, thinks the picture quality is quite good.

Bought this TV week ago off Amazon. It has turned itself off and on at least a dozen times now. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. I don’t understand why Samsung can’t make a TV that stays on when it is turned on. In case you’re wondering – The power cord is snugly plugged in to the back of the TV, and the TV turned itself off even with the batteries out of the remote. It seems to be mostly be happening when the attached DVD player turns on.

We purchased this TV about two months ago for a second TV room. It is connected to a HD cablebox via component cables. The picture is outstanding, even without an HDMI cable. The sound is very good. I especially like the voice-priority (not actual name, but what I call it) setting where the voice is very clear and audible and does not get lost in all the background noise. For the price, this was a great buy and we are very pleased with the picture clarity on both the HD and digital-only stations. Since we’ve only had it for a couple of months, I cannot make a statement about reliability.
