I do a lot of terminal service (RDP) stuff and share files over the network. Should I look into getting a used server? I have about 5 client computers and 4 laptops that all need to work at the same time. What are some good brands to look at?

Any suggestions? Its not for me its for my dad. He owns a company and just bought new laptops for himself and the executives below him but they are having trouble accessing the server drive at their office. Any suggestions in fixing the problem. Please be nice :]

Do I set up the server with all the storage, and then wire it to a wireless router, and then have the 4 computers in my office connect through the router?

I have 3 employees, and myself, and we all use laptops to access our files, but none of our files are shared. I am trying to find a way to keep our laptops wireless, and have all the files shared on one computer.
