How to detect a printer “connected to my desktop pc” from my laptop?

March 24th, 2011 2 comments

I connected my HP1020 Laserjet printer with my desktop, installed it and it’s printing fine. My desktop is connected to internet via ethernet cable. (I have home wireless connection)

I want to print files from my laptop. I have installed the printer in the laptop also. I have clicked on the *share this printer* option on my desktop computer but i don’t know what to do next. How do i find that printer on my laptop?

Thanks

How can one determine if the ink in the printer cartridge really is nearly empty?

March 21st, 2011 4 comments

How can one determine if the ink in the printer cartridge really is nearly empty? You know – the warning pops up reading “Your printer ink is low and should be replaced”. How do you know how much ink is REALLY left in the cartridge? The cartridges are no longer clear plastic, and they have no lid to peer inside. One should not run them dry, for fear of messing up the proper operation of the printer. Shaking produces no sloshing sound. How can one tell?

What is a good printer to bring with me to college?

March 21st, 2011 4 comments

I am going to be attending college in the fall, and I have decided that I am going to bring a printer along with me. I would prefer a multifunction printer that is also wireless. I would like it to have cheaper ink, and I don’t want to pay more than $90 for it. I have done a lot of research, but I don’t know what the best option would be. If anyone has a printer or knows of a printer that may be a good option to me, please let me know. Thanks!
