The people of the Western Digital said that this Hard driver is the best for gamers and normal users, but not is true.
this hard drive is slow, and make a lot of noise, in the Windows 7 evaluation this HD had a punctuation of 5.9 and my old HD Green power with 16mb cache had the same punctuation.
Where is the different? maybe in the noise! I don’t recommend this hard drive. If you have the Green Power HD don’t change. it is better.

Unlike others who have purchased this drive, I bought the retail version and the packaging was fine. The only difference between the retail and oem is the box and you get 4 screws. No cables, no software disk. I went WD website to register the drive and found out that the warranty is only 3 years NOT the 5 years as advertised here.

The harddrive slid right into the bay on a Dell XPS 601 that already had SATA cables. Reboot computer and format new drive and it was up and running. No problems so far, very good response times and will really help in storage and back-up issues.

One of the best drives (this particular model) on the market at the time of my purchase (march).
I bought a retail packaged drive for the added intelligent (protective) packaging that it would provide. Had I not done so, this would have arrived stone dead.
HORRENDOUS packaging job. It should have been wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap or the like, and then further immobilized from moving away from the center of the box with some sort of fill.
INSTEAD . . . . .
It was dumped loosely in the box with 2 pillows of air, free to bang around inside of the box.
Packed like this, the outer box would receive little harm and the contents would receive every impact as if it would if it were unboxed.
I look at my purchase with great suspicion and expect early mortality. I am Stunned that Amazon would do this.
This practice makes Amazon a frightening place to buy technology, especially hard drives. No intelligence in packing. Stick to buying books here, they’re packed appropriately.
I am WALKING to BestBuy tomorrow to buy a backup unit and taking one in my hands just to avoid shipping by anyone. Same price BTW.

Bought 2 of these to use in a DNS-321 as NAS back-up. Configured as RAID 1 no problems so far.
