I bought two of these Zeikos SD/MMC flash memory card readers for my wife and I. Both stopped working in less than two weeks after less than a dozen uses. Absolute rubbish. DO NOT BUY.

Product was as described but ship date was weeks late and no communication from seller. The day I sent a question on the order was also the day it was shipped.

I was lured into buying this b/c some reviewers here were mistaken about its build quality and decided to post positive reviews. It’s likely that the negative reviews more accurately reflect its quality. Save yourself the trouble, spend a few more dollars, and get an SD reader that is reliable and durable.
First things first – this thing comes in the flimsiest and most awkward packaging I have ever seen. It has the words “Professional Extreme” all over it. This thing is neither professional nor extreme. If it were professional, it wouldn’t be cased in thin, bendable plastic. Also, it probably wouldn’t look like a toy alien spaceship. It it were extreme, it probably would have lasted at least a week. The packaging says to go to Zeikos.com for warranty information. Just for kicks, I went there, and I was appalled by the feast of visual incongruities before me. Anyway, there is a hidden pocket at the bottom of the packaging that is completely obscured by the information placard. Lo and behold, I discovered a USB cable within the pocket. This is notable since the USB cable isn’t mentioned at all anywhere on the packaging. It’s not even referred to in the bullet-point list of features on the back. It’s almost like a surprise feature of this product. A surprise feature you come across 3 weeks after purchase, when you’re reviewing it on Amazon.
Now then, about the product itself. As I mentioned before, it’s designed like a toy alien spaceship. This is worthy of mention since the packaging promises “professional level looks”. Yes, I suppose this is professional level – especially if you’re Xenu and are currently en route to Earth in your interstellar DC-8. Anyway, this is clearly just a very cheaply-made gadget from a no-name company. The end-caps are made of thin, bendable plastic. When you plug the reader into your USB port, the red light on top is ridiculously bright. Like so bright that it creates a red aura around the device, and you’ll swear that the thing is actually a beacon signaling to Lucifer that it’s time to instigate the reckoning.
The product only worked for one day. Before you jump to conclusions that I abused the device, let me say the following. I used the SD reader once, to transfer some photos. Everything went fine. I was relieved about my purchase. Perhaps I was a little arrogant then, a little bold. I went to the bar and mixed myself an Old Fashioned and listened to some 45s. Later that night, I came back to the SD reader. I removed it from the port, I placed it on a silk pillow. I put the pillow in a temperature-controlled vault. I locked the vault. Everything went smoothly. Too smoothly, perhaps, because when I took the SD reader out the next day, it simply didn’t work. It lit up and everything, like Satan’s Christmas tree, but it couldn’t read any SD cards.

Used so far only to read/write SD card. Works just fine so far. No complaints. Take care of it & it should take care of you. Gave it four stars only because I just got it & it hasn’t stood the test of time, & because I didn’t rate speed (It was plenty fast for me, but then it doesn’t matter much for what I used it for. Can’t beat it for the price!

This was just what I needed. I lost the usb cable for my digital camera to download photos. This card reader fills that spot. I am glad I have it!
